Lauren graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) with a BA in Fine Art 2016 and with a BA inFine Art honours (first class) in 2018. She is currently undertaking a Masters in Fine Art by research also atthe VCA. Lauren’s work is held in various public and private collections such as the Myer family collection,Joyce Nissan Collection and the Epworth Hospital Collection. She has been the recipient of a number ofprizes including the Myer Family Foundation Prize, Abbotsford Convent start up studio residency award,the David Fell Photography Award and the Centre for Contemporary Photography 2022 salon award forExcellence in Staged Photography. Lauren has participated in a number of group and solo exhibitions inMelbourne, Sydney and the USA. Selected exhibitions include: Kyneton Stockroom, BUS projects, VergeGallery Sydney, LON Gallery, Cal Arts (USA), PHOTO 2021 International Festival of Photography and Centrefor Contemporary Photography (CCP). Lauren participated in Spring 1883 in 2017, 2018 & 2019represented by LON Gallery and also in 2021 represented by Discordia Gallery. Lauren was a finalist in the2017 Bowness Prize as well as the 2019 Darebin Art Prize and is the founder of Melbourne based artistcollective ‘The Image Collective’.
Lauren's practice utilises images and installation based methods to question our fast paced relationshipwith the images we encounter on our journeys in the virtual and physical worlds we exist within. Shebelieves images have power beyond comprehension to influence, persuade, seduce and mislead morethan ever due to technological advancements as well as our growing dependency on the virtual world tosurvive. Lauren’s work looks to decode these images to make sense of culture and the power structuresshaping shared desires. Her work creates social commentary and provocations addressing criticalcontemporary politics through the lens of popular culture.
